Spanish Festivals in Spain

Valencia's biggest festival, Las Fallas, takes place every March with a riotious week of city fires, explosions and parades in honour of Saint Joseph, attracting around two million people. The city is adorned with a myriad of ninots, vast papier maché figures - politicians, film stars, bullfighters and anyone of local, national or international notoriety can find themselves colourfully caricatured as a 15 or 20 foot model. One of the highlights of the festival week is the burning of these monumental effigies.

If there is one thing that every person in Alicante enters in the diary it is the Moros and Cristianos festival.As with a large number of the Spanish Festivals the Moros and Cristianos is celebrated throughout the whole of Spain but in Alicante it is a large and colourful spectacle.In Alicante the festival starts with a huge parade with people dressed in the period costumes of the Moors and Christians.
