The district of Sant Carles de la Ràpita is located in the Ebro river delta overlooking Alfacs Bay. This bay has an extension of 142 km2 and it is the ideal spot for water sports. The area surrounding the bay, which contains some large lagoons and long sandy beaches, is one of the most important aquatic habitats on the Mediterranean and has been declared a Nature Park. The cuisine in this area is rich and varied. It is based on the many local ingredients provided by farming, hunting and fishing, and the fish and shellfish specialities here are famed for their excellent quality.
The port is tucked behind the protective arm of Punta de la Banya and provides a good refuge as well as a place to get serious repair work done. The marina is in the NW corner. Report in at the control tower at the entrance.
