 Tarragona can be found on the north eastern Mediterranean coast of Spain. Tarragona is actually a province of Catalonia and the main city for the 220 km stretch of coastline known as the Costa Dorada.
To get to Tarragona you have the choice of two airports, Barcelona International Airport in the north and Reus International Airport.
Reus Airport is only about 20 kms away from Tarragona and the main airline to fly here is Ryanair. You may also find a few charter airlines fly here.
Barcelona Airport on the other hand is a large International Airport and offers a huge range of flights from around the world. You do need to drive about 100 kms south of Barcelona to get to Tarragona but this is fairly easy if you take the main Autopista.
Tarragona?s beaches are gently slope into the sea and offer safe bathing and find sandy beaches. A lot of the larger beaches offer a selection of water sports with windsurfing, diving and water skiing being the main favorites.
The inland area of Tarragona throws up some wonderful scenery and the main crops that are grown here are Carob Trees, Hazel and Almond trees and of course Olive Trees.
Tarragona makes for an interesting weekend break with the Old City being steeped in history and blessed with mild winters and warm summers that are kept cool by the sea breezes.
We have found that the best way to get around this area of Spain is by organizing a rent a car from the Airport you fly into.
