Motril has around 50,000 residents and is the largest town on the Costa Tropical. It is located in Southern Spain and lies in the region of Andalucia.
The Motril area is good farming land with plenty of fruit and vegetables grown here. The amount of flowers and fruits such as Bananas, Mangos and Avocados bring a welcome boast to the economy of Motril.
The nearest larger Cities to Motril are Granada which is around 65 kms away and Malaga which is around 100 kms away.
Motril itself is a pleasant Town with a few sites of note and a busy port area. The port is home to Motrils own fishing fleet and you are able to catch ferries over to Morocco from here
If you are flying to Motril for your holiday then you will land at either Malaga Airport or Granada Airport. Granada Airport is obviously closer but it has a limited number of flights.
Malaga on the other hand is a major International Airport that handles over 12,000,000 passengers per year. You can fly to Malaga from over 100 different airports from around the world.
Once you have landed at the airports it is not that easy to transfer to Motril. There are no trains and the buses involve a few changes and lots of time.
The easiest options for transfers to Almunecar are the Airport taxis and rental cars. The airport taxis will set you back about ¬75 from Granada and over ¬100 from Malaga.
We would recommend booking a rental car as the cheapest and quickest way to transfer to Motril. The costs of the car on offer through Car-Hire.es are often cheaper than the costs of the return transfers
