La Herradura is a popular tourist town on the little known Costa Tropical. You will find the Costa Tropical on the southern coast of Spain.

It is to the east of the Costa del Sol and south of Granada and the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

The mountains provide an important part of life in La Herradura, the provide shelter for the many farming communities to grow wonderful fresh produce such as Fruits, Avocados, Almonds and Olives and the mountains provide some great scenery.

If you are coming to La Herradura anytime from November to March then it is possible to head up into the mountains for a days skiing. On good days you could ski in the morning and sit by the pool in the afternoon!

Many coves and beaches are spread along the 19kms of coastline around La Herradura, some offer excellent sandy stretches and some are mainly shingle beaches.

If you would like to fly to La Herradura then you can fly into Malaga Airport or Granada Airport. Malaga is the larger of the two airports with a large amount of flights from a large number of countries arriving throughout the day all year round.

Granada Airport on the other hand receives a small amount of flights from a small number of airlines. If however you are flying from the UK then Ryanair have now started a daily service between Liverpool and Granada and Luton and Granada.

Both of these airports offer a limited selection of transfer options to and from La Herradura and in our opinion the best thing to do is rent a car.

This will not only speed up your transfer times and save you money but it will give you the opportunity of exploring the whole area around La Herradura.
