Gran Canaria has one International Airport, Las Palmas. The Airport can be found around 18kms south of Gran Canaria?s main Town which is also called Las Palmas.
Getting to and from the Airport if you are driving is fairly easy and all you need to do is find the Islands main Motorway, GC-1 and head south from Las Palmas. It is well sign posted even from the smaller roads.
Once at Gran Canaria Airport you will find the usual level of shops and cafes. Somewhere to stop, grab a coffee or a bit to eat and of course plenty of places to help you spend your cash. When you are looking around the shops in the Gran Canaria Airport departure lounge remember that the duty free allowances from the Canary Islands are different than mainland Spain.
To transfer from the airport you need to catch the No60 or No66 bus, catch a taxi or organize rent a car.
The No 60 bus goes from Gran Canaria Airport to Las Palmas and the No 66 bus runs from the Airport to Faro de Maspalomas. You can find both the bus stops and taxi stands outside the main buildings at the airport.
If you are leaving Gran Canaria you will need to head for the departure lounge which is on the first floor when you arrive at the airport you will find yourselves on the ground floor.
Flying to Gran Canaria from the UK is easy and if you search hard enough you can find a large number of airlines, both Charter and Scheduled who fly here on a regular basis.
In our opinion the best way to get around the Island and the most cost effective way of transferring to and from the Airport is by having you own car.
We have found that Car-Hire.es offer the widest range and best prices on all Gran Canaria Airport cars.
