Previously only accessible from both Gibraltar and Malaga Airports there is now a daily flights to Jerez from Ryanair. This would give you a bit more of a journey to Estepona but the 90 minute drive is through some wonderful scenery and if the price is right could be worth the effort.
More traditional than its glitzy neighbor, Puerto Banus, Estepona still carries on the Spanish afternoon siesta and many of the offices only work a half day over August each year.
Estepona Town itself has a newish yacht marina and although not in the same league as Puerto Banus Marina or Sotogrande it still offers some good quayside restaurants and cafes from which to sit and watch the world go by.
The main shopping area is located just behind the sea front promenade, to the east of the marina. The narrow, cobbled streets offer some well known stores such as Mango along with the local older shops that are still managing to survive.
There is no shortage of cafes in Estepona and most of them have an excellent selection of Ice creams and cakes on offer as well. Compared with many parts of the Costa del Sol you will find the prices for eating and drinking in Estepona to be more than reasonable.
Driving from any of the Airports is easy and if you are traveling from Malaga Airport then make sure that you take the Toll road (E15-A-7) when the route splits just before Fuengirola. Not only will this save you time but it is a more pleasant journey.
