The Costa Brava runs 200 kms from the Pyrenees and the border with France all the way down to Barcelona.
This part of Spain is the one part of Spain that many European visitors choose to drive to.
If you are coming to Spain from the UK for instance you can catch the ferry from either Portsmouth to Bilbao or Plymouth to Santander and drive across Northern Spain to the Costa Brava.
Although quite a lot of driving is involved (690 kms from Bilbao to Girona) it means that you can start your holiday the moment you get onto the ferry and then enjoy a nice drive across the green and hilly parts of Spain.
You can also drive to the Costa Brava via France. Some of the distances are no further and it?s simply a question of getting of the ferry and heading south. The furthest distance would be form somewhere like Calais where you are looking at a 1200km drive and a driving time of at least 12 hours.
If you have a limited number of days for your holiday or really can t be bothered with the drive then the answer is to fly into one of the Costa Brava?s International Airports, Girona to the north and Barcelona to the South.
Girona?s main airline is Ryanair for whom Girona is one of their main European hubs. At Barcelona you will find that nearly every main European National and ?No Frills? Airline offer flights and routes.
For me fly drive is a far easier option, especially if you have kids, if you would like a good price and starting point for your Costa Brava rent a car then checkout Car-Hire.es who offer good cars at good rates.
