Just 60kms north of Alicante Airport on the northern stretch of the Costa Blanca, Calpe is a typical Spanish Town with a central shopping area and a small fishing harbour set out on a peninsula that is home to the large and awesome Rock of Ifach.

The rock of Ifach is a 332 metre lump of rock that rises out of the sea and towers above Calpe's fishing port.

For the adventurous types it is possible to climb the Rock of Ifach internally through a serious of carved staircases and tunnels.

We found Calpe to be a pleasant town with some great beaches; in fact, I would say that they are some of the best beaches that we have found in Spain.

You get 2 very different types of beaches in Calpe, on one side are sandy beaches set in rocky coves whilst on the other side of the peninsula there is a wide, white sandy beach that is backed by a smart promenade and has still, crystal clear waters.

If you are the type of people who like getting and about then Calpe is a good base from which to explore the Costa Blanca, not far from Benidorm or Alicante but far enough away from the rowdy nightlife that both those places have.
