
(Elche-Alicante) Newton College is a co-educational British school with bilingual teaching (English/Spanish). Established in 1991, the school is independent, not subsidized and is tolerant of all religions. It is registered in the Valencian Region's Schools' Register and is a member of the British Schools Association of Spain, the International Baccalaureate Organisation, and ACADE (self-governing Private Teaching Centres Association).
The college has been innovative since its founding and was one of the first in the area to introduce bilingual English/Spanish teaching.
Newton College meets all the requirements demanded by Spanish law and its studies are approved in Spain and the UK. It teaches both the English and Spanish programme and has adopted the Middle Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate Organisation. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme will be implemented in September 2002. German is introduced during secondary education and the Valencian language is taught from the third year of primary education.
The multi-lingual and multi-cultural character of Newton College reflects one of its fundamental aims, which is to achieve the competent use of English by all its pupils and familiarize them with the life and culture of other countries.
