The bay of Palma, on the island of Mallorca, is host to prestigious sailing competitions such as the King's Cup, the Almirall Comte de Barcelona Trophy and the SAR Princess Sofia Cup. These events attract the best international sportsmen and even numerous members of the European royalty to the coasts of the island. The Spanish Royal Family, great lovers of the sea and sailing, participate actively every year in these regattas. The warm climate of the island, together with first order infrastructure support for water sports, encourage many elite sportsmen to choose Mallorca as a training ground throughout the year.
This royal yacht club was founded in 1948 making it the oldest in the Balearics. It is situated near the centre of town and offers good security with easy access for all nautical goods and services. There is a full service yard within the club itself for yachts up to about 50tn. For larger yachts there are plentiful facilities at some of the other yards in the bay. The club sports a pleasant swimming pool and outside bar area, plus an excellent restaurant.
Palma de Mallorca is home to 3 wonderful courses on the island: Club de Golf Son Muntaner with modern design and large greens, its sister course Club de Golf Son Vida surrounded by rich Mediterranean flora, and Mallorca's newest course Club de Golf Son Termens.
