Despite the fact that the harbour is only 800 metres from the airport and noise pollution can be high, this marina has long been a favourite spot for yachtsmen due to its low berth rates and excellent, inexpensive shipyard. In the low season, when the the airport is quieter, it is a popular place to winter, being a safe haven, close to Palma. However, in summer and winter alike, telephoning to make an advance reservation is advisable.
The harbour itself is easy to enter except in strong SE, W or SW winds. San Antonio de la Playa marks the beginning of the stretch of long, wide beaches that border this side of Palma Bay. It is a popular tourist spot, packed with bars, restaurants and small supermarkets.
