A small market town west of Huelva on the N431 to Portugal. It has a few interesting features and a pleasant central square. Is is also a useful place to stock up on provisions and has a seemingly disproportionate number of hardware shops and mechanical workshops that serve the farming community. Lepe is famous as the strawberry capital of Spain, and unfortunately its inhabitants are is also the subject of hundreds of Spanish jokes. The main beach in Lepe - Beach of La Antilla, just 5 km from the city, it´s an open air place in front of the sea which counts with more than 20 km of littoral. Because of the touristic growing in Spain during the 60 years, Lepe and its beach La Antilla begin to detach as touristic point of interest. The prolification of buildings and during the 70 years is sittled in this beach a tourism principally national and more concretely formed by persons poceeding of the interior of Andalucia. During the summer takeover a half poblation of 60.000 inhabitants. During the summer, the municipal government promote many activities of sport, where is combined classic sports as new sports. The windsurf is one of the more practised nautic sports thank the clime so appropriated for the practise of this sport during all the year, it permits the practise of the most of the sports. |
