A marina has been built in the northern part of the harbour. Port officials monitor VHF Ch 14 from 0600-2200 daily, while the port pilot monitors channels 11 and 16. After having docked the boat, either at the reception dock or in an empty slip, the captain should report during office hours to the port authority. The office is on the first floor of the ferry terminal building. Members of yacht clubs can use the facilities of the Gomera Yacht Club which is reached through a short tunnel opposite the ferry tunnel.
The Marina La Gomera, is the first stop for travellers and proud of its history in connection with the Discovery of America. The first and most important calls were made by Christopher Columbus on his first three voyages, La Gomera being the last Castilian land that saw Columbus before the Discovery of America in 1492. Because of the important role played in the American venture, La Gomera is also known as the Isla Colombina. The Marina of San Sebastián is actually considered to be of the best on the Canary Islands.
