Costa Blanca Information

Costa Blanca Information

Javea itself is a small, historic town , free of high rise buildings offering a relaxing holiday and contact with a friendly and forthcoming local population.
Javea with its variety of landscape, ranging from sandy coastlines to rugged mountain areas, its mild year-round climate, its careful planning policies and extensive tourist facilities, is a jewel on the Costa Blanca, combining beauty and modern facilities with the charm of an ancient fishing village.

Javea has one of the most attractive seaports along the Mediterranean, due both to its location and to its unsurpassed fishing and sports installations.
The modern Yacht Club at the sports marina has nearly 300 berths and facilities for all types of water sports, sailing, fishing, scuba diving, water skiing, windsurfing etc. Just outside of the town, surrounded by pines and orange groves, the Javea Golf Club offers a pleasant setting for golfers. There are several other golf courses within easy access of Javea. A number of sports clubs and associations in the area promote tennis, horse-riding and even shooting.

Javea is a jewel on the Costa Blanca. It is a town of great beauty, magical landscapes, a haven of peace and serenity.
Here, nature has been so generous and splendid that it is difficult to find a similar place. The sea is pure blue, clean and revealing. The mountain, washed by the Mediterranean sea, offers us lush vegetation and many local species of flora and fauna. Javea-Xabia, in the Land of Valencia, is a tourist and maritime town on the Costa Blanca.
It is situated between the San Antonio and La Nao capes, enjoying the impressive and magnificent protection of Mount Montgó.
Dominating the fishing port is the modern silhouette of the church of Nestra Senora de Loreto; with a roof imitating a ship´s hull. Outside the town, following the road to the San Antonio cape, the architectural sites include the monastery of Nuestra Senora de los Angeles, a series of small hermitages clutching the slopes of the mountain and some ancient windmills.
The wonderful maritime architecture of the Santa Maria de Loreto church, with a roof imitating a ship?s hull must be seen, and is well worth a visit.
Pavement cafés and bars overlooking the Mediterranean invite you to sit and have a drink and just enjoy the ambience of the Port, after completing your shopping.

The Arenal beach area is the commercial and tourist part of Javea .The beautiful, sandy bay is planted with palm trees and has play areas for children. The bay is fringed by the promenade with its wonderful choice of bars and restaurants offering national and international specialities. Interesting shops and boutiques abound.
The clean, warm, blue Mediterranean Sea washes its miles of beaches, coves and cliffs where you can enjoy hours of sun and sea. With its variety of landscape, its mild year round climate Javea is a jewel on the Costa Blanca.

From 28 April ? 3 May, Jesus the Nazarene must be honoured, and from 1 ?8 September the patroness Our Lady of Loreto is the object of devotion. The Javea town fiesta is held during the second fortnight of July and is an occasion for feasting, dancing, parades, music and fireworks, as are the Moors & Christians parades at the end of August. During the rest of the year there are other smaller fiestas for celebration.

Javea old town is steeped in history, with tosca stone porticoes, gothic bay windows, wrought iron window bars and balcony railings. The church of San Bartolemé in the town centre is an example of late gothic with a defensive character.
The "Soler Blasco" Archaeological Museum is close by in the narrow streets and offers a wealth of information about the Iberian history. Nearby you can find the covered indoor market selling all sorts of household goods, fruit, vegetables, meat and fresh fish brought up from the Port daily.
The importance of the town´s maritime activities can be seen in the port zone, known as Aduanas de Mar with its lovely sea promenade and its various fish restaurants. Aduanas del Mar is the area generally known as the Port. The harbour where the fishing boats dock with their daily catch lies next to the very attractive marina full of interesting boats.
