The University of Huelva is a young institution created in 1993 to serve the needs of students, teachers and researchers. As a public institution, it offers numerous and varied degrees and diplomas adapted to the social-economic and cultural idiosyncratic characteristics of Huelva and its province. Nature (National Park of Doñana), historical heritage (Columbus Historical Places), the economic growth of sectors such as chemical industry, agriculture (strawberry and citrics), cattle raising (iberian pork), are our strengths and our wealth and explain our interest in offering degrees in Environmental Studies, National Art Heritage, Chemical or Agricultural and Forest Engineering.

At present, the University has four campuses (El Carmen, La Merced, Cantero Cuadrado, La Rábida), the ultimate objective of the policy of the University regarding infrastructure is to eventually have all university centres and services located on the brand new Campus de El Carmen.

Today, 13925 students, 706 teachers conform the University of Huelva, which offers 33 degrees and 22 doctoral programs, 104 research groups, a central library with reading rooms, periodical library, magazines, exchange of scientific publications, computing centers...

The main building is located in the center of the modern Campus de "El Carmen", there are other three libraries located in the other three campus. The library holds more than 160.000 books, 3.763 periodic publications, 771 electronic magazines and supporting material such us: maps, photos, slides, recordings, videos, Cds. There are 84 computers stations which can be used to consult the catalogue or the data bases. It also offers, among others, the following services to the public:

More than 718 reading posts and 556 study posts.
Borrowing book service, with the TUO card.
Complete bibliographic information.
Audition rooms.
Publication services.
Internet connection.

The ordinary opening hours of this services are 8:30 to 21:00, Monday to Friday. During exams week, the library is also opened on Saturday, 8:30 to 14:30. Study rooms, however, are open 24 hours a day.
