Gran Canaria School of Languages Canary Islands

The Gran Canaria School of Languages is specialised in the teaching of Spanish to foreign students since 1964. The teachers are highly specialised and have long experience. The school is a member of other Spanish and local cultural and professional associations. It is also recognised since 1986 by the German government as a collaborator in teaching Spanish (Bildungsurlaub) for professional training. Starting dates: Group A: first Monday of every month for beginners for as many weeks as desired. Students with other levels can join this group as it progresses through the different levels. Group B: third Monday of every month for 2 weeks only and only for beginners.

The school owns 3 buildings near each other and all of them only a few meters from the beach of Las Palmas (Canteras Beach). In one of the buildings the school and cafeteria are located, the other two are the residences. The school building is a 2-storey construction with a nice Canarian patio used as a lounge connecting with offices and classrooms. On the second floor there are more classrooms, a kitchen and a cafeteria.

We use the direct method.  We learn practicing from the first lesson, using only the language we are learning.  Written exercises are done at home. The school has its own teaching method "El Español Facilísimo" which is completed with the "Gramática Española Abreviada". This teaching material is included in the tuition price.

In the Standard Course (Group A) we offer four levels acording to the Instituto Cervantes' levels: Total beginner, Beginner with little knowledge, Intermediate and Advanced. The Superior course (min. 4 weeks) is thought for those students wanting to take the DELE examination.

The school organises optional complementary activities such as a weekly excursion, visit to the theatre, art galleries or museums, restaurants or folk dances... etc. A minimum number of participants is required for every activity. These activities will have an extra cost. The school can also organize sport, dance or other activities on demand.
