I found a great website called: independent-spanish-property-guide.com which answered all my questions on buying my first property in Spain. They have loads of different guides which are written by property experts in plain English and are free!
You can ask them questions, using their contact form: www.independent-spanish-property-guide.com/contact.html

Hello, my name is Owen Conlon and I'm a former Irish national broadcast journalist now living in Spain.
I'm putting together a radio documentary due to go out on RTE Radio 1 later this year. It will deal with the experiences of Irish people who have taken the plunge and moved over here to live.
If you are one such individual, I'd love to hear from you. I'm looking for real-life stories about how difficult or easy it was for you to adapt to life in Spain. Was the language a big problem for you, or did you settle right in? Did you have difficulty finding a job or did you get lucky first time out? Did you run foul of the notorious Spanish bureaucracy? How did your kids get on after the move?
I'm looking for stories from people of all ages, from those in their twenties to couples who have decided to enjoy their retirement in the sun.
You may think that your own tale is a little humdrum, but please, get in contact anyway. Remember, it's always real-life stories which are the most interesting of all.
I can be reached at owenconlon1@yahoo.com and any replies will be treated in the strictest confidence.
Regards,
Owen
