2 answers here for oxo go to your local medicle centre, i have been given this info by a freind who requires oxo and gets it from there.
the other answer about medicle insurance is get it in Spain from www.sanitas.es this is the spanish medicle insurance, part of bupa but much much cheaper for the same care. hope all this helps have done a lot of reserch on these subjects as i suffer with my heart, and may need oxo and medicle care, as i will be coming to spain to live later this year, the only difference is i do not plan to return to the u.k. only as a spainish citizen, so will be using all my d.s.s certificates to get spanish healthcare and pension. i have been informed by our d.s.s. that i will be due to every thing that i would get here, just the same in spain.

I think I am right in assuming that new health proposals in UK mean that people retiring to Spain early e.g. 60 cannot make use of the British NHS ever again or the or the Spanish health system until they are 65. This probably means private cover in Spain for five years. Can anyone give advice on the likely cost for a 60 year old man and 58 year old woman both in good health?

Hi there...we have lived in Spain for 4 years and there is no question that the Health care over here can be excellent and the hospitals are immaculate and everything is very good, but the nightmare is not understanding the system or the language and my husband and I are going back to the U.K. for that very reason. Better the devil you know....etc.....

Hi PJ,
In general I have always found Spanish healthcare to be excellent. Most villages have local GPs, and towns also have "ambulatorios", or health care centres, normally with a 24hr doctor in attendence. Most doctors speak at least some English!
In order to qualify for Spanish healthcare (instead of E111s), you will have to register as a resident in Spain.
