Bariatric Surgery is an option for patients 100 pounds or more overweight, or whose boyd mass index (BMI) is 40 or above, due to the greatly increased risk of health problems associated with severe obesity. Bariatric Surgery may also be indicated for patients with a BMI of 35-39 with an established associated health problem.
