Formentera is the smallest and less populated island of the Balearic archipelago and has cultivated a strong personality and distinctive charm. Only eleven miles separate Formentera from Ibiza, but crossing the strait you step into another world.

Situated on one of Formentera's highest points in the southeast is the Mola viewpoint where you can enjoy the spectacular panoramic of the whole island. Stretched out before you are fields, pathways and some of the island's traditional architecture. Just a little further on is the lighthouse Far de la Mola which stands on cliffs overlooking the blueness of the sea. It was here, after gazing into the sky at night, that the French writer Jules Verne was inspired to write Journey Round the Solar System. 

West from La Mola you will find another lighthouse at the Cap de Barbaria standing on some truly spectacular cliffs and offering magnificent views. You can also visit the nearby Garroveret defence tower, megalithic findings, and traces of settlement from the first half of the second millennium before Christ. 
 
Formentera has two natural lakes which are connected to the sea. They provide a unique possibility see many species of migratory birds. 
 
Espalmador, situated in the north west of the island, is Formentera's largest islet. The uninhabited islet is largely considered as having one of the best conserved dune systems in the whole Mediterranean. With just one building and defence tower the islet belongs to idyllic imagination. 

Migjorn, Llevant, es Pujols, sa Roqueta, es Caló, es Arenals, the Saona Cove and Illetes. Formentera is surrounded by beaches of fine white sand, the majority situated in small coves and all enjoying crystal clear waters.
