Puerto Jose Banus was inaugurated in May of 1970. It has a capacity for 915 docking posts for berths ranging from 8 to 50m, and two beaches on either side over 150m long. Puerto Banus in Marbella is one of the meeting points where there is a pleasant level of life. Puerto Banus nightlife is well known among celebrities, and there are countless clubs. Calahonda was developed specifically to combine rural and coastal life. As a result, there are few high-rise apartment buildings in Calahonda, mostly villas and townhouses. The amenities in Calahonda are all located within easy walking distance. Coin is situated in the fertile valley of the rio Grande aprox. 21 Km inland from Marbella and there is little doubt that a community of some kind existed on the spot long before the Roman conquest.
