(Barcelona) Col·legi Europa International School is a private, non-denominational, co-educational school founded in 1995. The modern purpose-built premises include 62 classrooms, three science laboratories, two gymnasiums, a library, art room, music room, 500-seat theatre, computer rooms, tutorial rooms, full dining facilities, football pitch and multi-sports grounds. The school is located in a residential area of Barcelona, 15 km from the city centre.
At Col·legi Europa all educational levels are taught, from 12 months to 18 years of age. The academic programme is international. The teaching is based on an ongoing relationship between parents, students and educators. Within the school, the current curricula and taking into consideration each student's skills and preferences, students are educated so that they can successfully complete the new 'Bachilleratos' (Spanish System) and the International Baccalaureate which it is planned to offer in the future.
One of the priorities of the school is for students to be fluent in Spanish, Catalan and English along with possessing a high level of French and German by the time they finish their education. All teachers hold university degrees and/or certification and have a wide range of teaching experience. Pupils are taught approximately 80% of the school day through English from the ages of three to six. In the primary and secondary school this percentage is approximately 40%. The education is multi-cultural with native teaching staff and exchange programs with students from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. The student body comes from over thirty different nationalities.
Provision is made for a wide range of cultural activities among which drama, choir, ballet, dance and orchestra figures prominently. Pupils are also offered a chance to participate in a variety of sports activities.
Col·legi Europa strives for academic achievement, competence, clear structure, exploration and self-education as an essential foundation for a successful future.
