Valencia is at the most northern point of the Costa Blanca and is one of the largest and liviest Cities in Spain.
You can fly directly into Valencia Airport from the UK with several Airlines that include British Airways, Easyjet, Jet2 and if you are flying from Ireland, Aer Lingus.
If you can't find the right price or flight from any of the airlines above then I would check out the deals on offer to Alicante which is around 200kms to the south. Murcia is the other Airport that offers flights to the Costa Blanca but it is around 275 kms away from Valencia.
Valencia is where Spain's famous Paella was first invented but Valencia is also known throughout the world for its fine oranges, wonderful seafood, fresh fruit and vegetables and some really great wines.
Valencia is also a City with a beach and can offer the perfect long weekend break. There is a lot to see and do, the nightlife's good and from April to October you could also fit in a few hours on the beach.
Another option is to travel into Valencia Airport and spend a few days in the City before heading south to explore the rest of the Costa Blanca. If you're clever you could even organize to fly out of Murcia or Alicante and this would save you driving back north again.
Spain for me is the perfect country for car rental, there are some excellent roads to drive on (although the signs are poor) and there are some great deals to be had at all the main Airports.
If you are looking for car rental as part of your holiday then we would recommend using Car-Hire.es who consistently offer good prices.
