Las Palmas is the Airport for Gran Canaria; Las Palmas Airport can actually be found just 18kms outside of the Islands main Town which shares its name Las Palmas.
The Islands main motorway the GC-1 will lead you to the airport; simply join it, head north from Las Palmas town and it is well sign posted.
You will find a good level and choice of facilities at Gran Canaria Airport including transfers to and from the airport via the Airport taxis or airport buses. Unfortunately you will not find any trains at Gran Canaria Airport.
There are two airport buses, No60 and No66. No60 runs between the airport and Las Palmas Town whereas No 66 runs between Gran Canaria Airport and Faro de Maspalomas. You can find both the bus and taxi stands outside of the main terminal buildings.
When you leave from Gran Canaria Airport you need to head fro the first floor and when you arrive you will find yourselves on the ground floor.
There is a wide choice of both shops and cafes at Gran Canaria Airport but when you are buying your Duty Free goods remember that the tax allowances for the Canary Islands is not the same as mainland Spain and you are restricted on the number of cigarettes etc that you can take back to the UK.
A large number of both charter and scheduled airlines fly to Gran Canaria from the UK and the flight time will be in the region of four hours.
