Located on the Southern Coast of Spain the Costa Tropical can be found to the west of Almeria, the east of Malaga and to the south of Granada and the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
La Herradura, Almunecar, Motril and Salobrena are the main tourist areas along the Costa Tropical but if you go out exploring you will stumble across many other hamlets and small villages.
There are two main airports that serve the Costa Tropical, Granada Airport and Malaga Airport.
Malaga Airport is the fourth busiest Airport in Spain and receives daily flights from numerous countries. In 2004 Malaga Airport dealt with more than 12,000,000 passengers and a huge proportion of these were from the UK.
Granada Airport is small by comparison and only handled in the region of 590,000 passengers over 2004. This year however, Ryanair have launched direct daily flights to Granada from Liverpool and Luton so this should have an effect on passenger numbers. It also makes the Costa Tropical that bit more accessible.
Lush green valleys allow farmers to grow a wide range of produce on the Costa Tropical. From Sugar Cane around Salobrena to fruits, avocados, olives and almonds along the rest of the coast this wonderful, sheltered landscape still ahs a thriving rural community.
On the whole the Costa Tropical has escaped the overdevelopment and commercialism that comes with the package tourists. This however makes it a relatively difficult place to get to. There are no trains and any long bus journeys involve changes. The best way of getting out and about is to have your own car.
Your own rental car will more than likely save you money on expensive airport transfers to and from the Costa Tropical.
We have always found that Car-Hire.es offer the best rates for all car hire on the Costa Tropical.
