A 200 kilometer length of coastline the Costa Brava runs from the Pyrenees and the French Border at its northern tip all the way down to Barcelona in the south.
The Costa Brava unlike many other parts of Spain can be easily driven to if you are coming to here from the UK.
Crossing the channel by taking the Plymouth to Santander route or the Portsmouth to Bilbao route will deliver you to Spanish shores but you still have a bit of a drive to make.
As an idea the journey time from Bilbao to Girona is around 6½ hours and involves a 690 kilometer drive across Northern Spain.
Alternatively you can choose one of the many ferries that operate on the UK to France route and drive south through France to the Costa Brava. Depending on which French port you dock at will obviously influence how long your drive is. One of the longest drives to the Costa Brava is from Calais and this involves a 1250 km drive which will take around 12 hours.
With such distances to drive in mind it may be simpler or easier to fly into either Girona Airport or Barcelona Airport, pick up a Rental Car and head off to your holiday destination.
Girona is one of the Ryanair's main European bases and they offer plenty of flights but you will also find many charter companies offering flights to this part of the Costa Brava.
Barcelona is around 1½ south of Girona but gives you an enormous amount of flights and airline to choose from with airline such as Bmi baby and Easyjet offering plenty of low cost flights to this part of the Costa Brava.
If ?Fly Drive? appeals then our advice is to checkout Car-Hire.es who offer excellent rates on all Costa Brava Rental cars.
