With Alicante Airport just 50kms away to the south, Altea is set in one of the most scenic and beautiful bays along the whole Costa Blanca.

You can also reach Altea from Valencia Airport which you will find 120kms to the north. Driving your car and finding Altea is quite straight forward, simply follow the signs from exit (salida) 65 on the main Autopista A-7. If you prefer you can also travel by the older N332 which flows between Alicante and Valencia.

The package holiday town of Benidorm is only around 10kms away and here you can find nightlife to suit every pocket and taste. Although not everyones cup of tea Benidorm is home to Terra Mittica Theme Park which can be a great day for the whole family.

The actual old quarter of Altea is a typical Spanish scene, winding, narrow, cobbled streets that meander past wonderful white washed townhouse with hanging baskets to die for.

Within the old quarter you will also find some charming Art and Craft shops along with a great many Bars, cafes and Restaurants.

As you walk around the old town your head is filled with the wonderful smell of Jasmine and you soon forget about the steep streets that you are climbing.

The main focal point of the old town is the large, blue domed, Virgin del Consuelo church, our advice is to head here and see where your fancy takes you!

Being quite a long way from either Alicante or Valencia Airport it may be worth booking your car rental in advance as the costs of return taxi or private transfers from Alicante to Altea could cost more than car rental for a week!
