Almunecar is 75kms from Granada and 85kms from Malaga in Southern Spain. Almunecar is actually in the Province of Granada and within Spains Andalucia Region.
It is a beautiful town with the stunning Sierra Nevada Mountains behind and the calm, blue seas of the Mediterranean in front.
Almunecar has its own micro climate that enables it grow a wide variety of fruits and vegetables including Mangos, Custard Apples, Avocados and Bananas.
The winters offer mild, frost free living where the temperature rarely fall below 18C and the skies offer clear, bright blue skies. In the summer things really hot up but the warm Spanish sun is kept cool by the constant sea breezes.
To get to Almunecar you need to get a flight to either Granada Airport or Malaga Airport. If you live near Liverpool or Stansted then you are in luck as Ryanair have just started daily flight to Granada from both of these UK Airports.
Flights to Malaga are far easier to obtain but the distance to Almunecar from Malaga is a slightly hefty 85kms and transport options are a little thin on the ground.
Really the only direct way of getting from Malaga or Granada Airport to Almunecar is via a taxi or your own car. Taxis cost around ¬80 from Granada and around ¬90 from Malaga. Buses do run from the airports to all points along the Costa Tropical but taking the bus will involve at least one change along the way.
