Seville or Sevilla as it is known can be found within Andalucia which is in the far south of Spain.

Seville is the capital City for Andalucia and is one of the nicest Cities that I have had the opportunity of visiting.

If you are going to the Costa del Sol and feel like exploring or you are looking for a Spanish holiday with a slight twist then Seville is a good option.

You can fly to Seville Airport direct from the UK with Ryanair, British Airways or Iberia, Spain's national airline. The journey time from the UK is around 2½ hours which is perfect fro a weekend break.

If the flights to Seville are not that great from an Airport near you could always fly into Jerez Airport and drive into Seville. Jerez to Seville takes less than an hour, whereas the drive from Malaga to Seville will take you around 2½ hours.

Apart from spending time in Seville itself there are many other day trips and tours that you could take.

An ideal driving holiday for me from Seville would involve driving south to Jerez and then onto the Costa de La Luz which is where the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea meet. You could stay overnight or for a few days in a hotel on the beautiful beaches in Tarifa.

From here you could meander west through the Costa del Sol taking the famous hot spot of Marbella before heading through Malaga Town itself and on up to Granada and Europe's most southern Ski resort in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Or you could head west and drive into Portugal!

From here you start your journey back to Seville and spend a few days just enjoying this wonderful City, the late nights, warm winters and great shops.

All in all we would recommend spending perhaps a long weekend or a few days in Seville and combining this with a touring type holiday, Seville and Andalucia can throw up a few pleasant surprises so grab a car and head for the road!
