Elche or Elx as it is known in Valencian is famed for its extensive Palm Grove that produces dates over the winter months.

Elche itself is also the third most populated area in Valencia and has a rich history, some interesting monuments and great beaches.

Elche is actually inland from Alicante and can be reached by flying into either Alicante International Airport or the airport at Murcia. Murcia Airport is actually further away from Elche than Alicante but there are now many more low cost airlines plying their trade there and it may be worth the traveling to fly there.

The coastline at Elche is around fifteen minutes from the City centre and has 12 kms of beaches.

The 12 kilometer coastline of Elx is located 15 minutes from the city and is split into two different areas, the first is in the Altet area and the second in the Marina area tend to be backed by pine trees and sand dunes.

Elche has many things to see and you could easily spend time just wandering through it s streets but it is also a good place to use as a base for exploring the Costa Blanca.

Both Alicante and Benidorm are not that far from Elche in a hire car and offer tourist and holiday facilities that are more typical of your Spanish Holiday destinations.

Although Elche is quite close to Alicante Airport 15kms, it could still be worth picking up your car from the Airport in order to save money any taxi transfers.
