 Blanes has been a popular holiday resort for many years but is still less known and a lot less lively than its famous nieghbour of Lloret de Mar.
Blanes can be reached by flying into either Barcelona or Girona Airports.
Barcelona Airport is around 60 kilometers south of Blanes, whilst Girona Airport is only around 30 kilometers away.
In order to get to Blanes you really do need to fly into either one of these two airports. Barcelona Airport has a huge number of flights from the UK on a daily basis but does involve quite a long transfer to Blanes where as the main provider of flights to Girona are via Ryanair or a whole host of other travel companies.
When you get to Blanes you will be met by a great Spanish Town that boasts both small, rocky coves and great, wide sandy beaches that are never as busy as Lloret down the road.
Blanes is also home to two large Botanical Gardens that have over 11,000 plants ion display that are visited by some 300,000 people each year.
Blanes is also a good base from which to explore the rest of the Costa Brava. If you are inclined you could travel a couple of hours and be in France. Be in Barcelona in less than two hours and Girona in less than 30 minutes.
