Travelling to Spain

The Canary Islands are the tropical paradise of Spain, for Spaniards living in mainland Spain they are synonymous with holidays, as they are also for the hundreds and thousands of foreign tourists who pack the Canary Islands all year round. The Canary Islands are colonized and populated by Spaniards and lie 1,150km off the coast of Africa. Exploring the Canaries you move from sub-tropical vegetation to volcanic semi-deserts, from verdant cliffs and gorges to sand dunes by the sea shore. Each island is serviced by its own airport, Gran Canaria Airport, La Palma Airport, Tenerife South Airport, Tenerife North Airport, Fuerteventura Airport and Lanzarote Airport.

Tenerife South Airport in the Canary Islands
Tenerife south airport is a modern international airport. There are two airports on the island of Tenerife, one the south of the island (Tenerife Sur, TFS, also known as "Aeropuerto Reina Sofia"). And one the north side (Tenerife Norte, TFN, also known as "Aeropuerto de Los Rodeos"). Both airports are at about 2.5 hours flying time from Madrid, and about 3 hours from Barcelona. The easiest access is from the northern Airport (TFN) along the TF-5 motorway. This is an approximately 20 to 30 minute journey along the coast. The South Airport (TFS, or Reina Sofia) is more than an hour away along the TF-1 and then TF-5 motorways. Tenerife North Airport
