The Blanes port, founded on 13th March 1943, has become one of the most important nautical and tourist centers on the Costa Brava. It is situated at the extreme NE of Blanes beach, to the east of the Rock of Sa Palomera, where the Costa Brava starts, below the headland of Sant Joan, enjoying the concession of having a marina within the Fishing Port of Blanes.
The stretch of coast between Blanes and Lloret de Mar belongs to the southernmost part of the Costa Brava, the beauty of which is evident in the coves of Sant Francesc and Santa Cristina. Both are suitable for anchorage, though it is not advisable to spend the night there. At an intermediate point in the sea the "L'Agulla" rock emerges, a hazard which, like others such as Santa Anna Point which lie in the entrance of Blanes Harbour to the north, have to be taken into account.
The area is above all, rocky. As reference points the navigator has the town of Lloret de Mar, separated from the beach by a wide esplanade, and a reddish tower which stands out from the vegetation of the Gardens of Santa Clotilde close to the beach of Fenals and the Castle of San Joan in Blanes.
