
(Gran Canaria) The American School of Las Palmas is a private, non-profit, coeducational organization incorporated in the state of Delaware, USA, registered and recognized by the Ministry of Education in Spain. Pre-School through 12th grade students study a coordinated educational program incorporating the American and Spanish systems, and the most effective international theories and practices of education.

Our program is academically demanding, preparing our students to be accepted into the institutions of Higher Education of their choice. Our multicultural, multilingual student body reflects our commitment to a caring, pluralist environment that will enable students to become thoughtful, positive, and responsible members of this increasingly complex world community.
This day school teaches 410 boys and girls from 3 to 18 years, and follows a modified American curriculum leading to a Standard US High School diploma which is automatically recognized by the Spanish Ministry as the equivalent of COU level. There are 40 teachers including part-time staff. Facilities: 26 classrooms, science-laboratory, library, computer and video rooms, art and music rooms, cafeteria, out-door sports facilities.
Extra-curricular activities: soccer, basketball, cross-country, judo, volleyball, ballet and computer classes.
One-time capital levy: Nursery to grade 4: 300,000 ptas. (in instalments of 100,000 ptas. during first 3 years); Grade 5: 200,000 ptas. Grades 6-9: 100,000 ptas.
Upon admission: Grades 1~12: no capital levy. Annual tuition: Nursery to grade 5: 456,200 ptas; Grades 6-8: 634,750 ptas; Grades 9-12: 692,050 ptas. (in 10 monthly payments). School fees are for one current school year (1998-99).
