San Roque is a town distinguished by its whiteness. Situated on an almost circular hill, 109 metres over sea level, surrounded by mountains, opened to the valley of the rivers Guadiaro and Guadarranque and from where, there is a beautiful view of the Algeciras Bay.
Its climate,- the natural of this zone -; sunny and dry, soften down by the Mediterranean breeze, together with the hospitality of the people, who showed the open character of the Gaditanos, as well as its touristic possibilities, make of it a very attractive place.
Beaches like Puente Mayorga, Los , Chullera, Carteya and Guadiaro, all of them top quality and very well cared.
The important touristic complex of Sotogrande, with its redoubtable golf offer, "La Cañada", "Alcaidesa" , "San Roque Club" , "Sotogrande" and the famous "Valderrama" , which will housed the 1997 Ryder Cup . The only place in the south of Andalusia where the polo is played all the year round, and its splendid yacht harbour, ideal place for practising nautical sports.
San Roque, therefore, can be considered a typical Andalusian town, with those narrow and twisting lanes, and quiet squares and corners which give to the town that special "beauty of the south".
San Roque is a historic and especially attractive town, its traditional centre with historic sites and monuments, now surrounded by modern buildings, and its outskirts comprising high quality residential developments, and some exceptional settings for individual houses.
