Reus

Reus has near 100,000 citizens and is located about 10 km from Tarragona city and also 10 km from the Mediterranean coast. Located on the Mediterranean, in the heart of the Costa Daurada, in the Tarragona provincia, in the comunidad autónoma (?autonomous community?) of Catalonia, northeastern Spain. It lies on a coastal plain just west-northwest of Tarragona city. Reus was first mentioned in the 13th century, but its commercial life dates from 1750 when an English settlement was established there. Reus gained the status of a city in the 1840s. Tarragona is Catalonia's southernmost capital city, less than 100 kilometers away from Barcelona. Its privileged location affords it a temperate and mild climate year-round.

From 27 to 25 BC, Tarragona was home to Emperor Augustus, and the city has inherited much from its past. The declaration of its archaeological Roman ruins as UNESCO World Heritage is proof of this legacy.
