Punta Umbría enjoys a privileged location on a spit of land that stretches between the mouth of the rivers Tinto and Odiel and the Atlantic Ocean. It is 16 kilometres from the capital of the Province and has a population of 15,000 which multiplies in the summer season thanks to the size and quality of its beaches and tourist services.
It contains a busy fishing port and within the immediate surroundings beautiful natural scenic areas such as Los Enebrales (juniper tree groves), La Laguna de El Portil (El Portil lake), and the Marismas del Odiel (Odiel marshes) Nature Park are to be found.
The Marina, opened in 2002, is located on the calm waters of the estuary, right in the central part of town. It is provided with modern facilities and services which make for the comfortable practice of sailing, sea-fishing and water sports.
These newly developing Spanish resorts on the Costa de la Luz are only 25 kms from the Portuguese border. There are miles of golden sandy beaches, a golf course and the adjoining village of La Antilla offers a good selection of restaurants and bars.
The busy fishing town of Isla Cristina and the city of Huelva are both close by. Punta Umbria is a fairly large resort with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants centred around a fishing port.
